We held a very seasonal ‘Makhad’ at the offices of the Trust in Cheltenham at the beginning of December. Fifteen people managed to get away from the frantic shopping to relax in the wonderful candle-lit atmosphere created by Ann Blagden. The delicious food helped to set the tone as we remembered the Makhad journeys we had all been on.
Michael Ratcliffe, Chairman of the Trust, brought us up to date with the projects and after the meal we were aple to buy some of the exquisite bags made by the Bedouin women of St Katherines, many of which ended up as much appreciated Christmas presents.
It was a very pleasant evening with an opportunity to meet like-minded people - the very purpose of the Makhad Trust. We hope to organise many more of these events throughout the year, with a large one in the Summer when people can travel more easily.
